Everything is testable up to, but not including, GUI. Recursion is not testable. Material covered before Test 1 is testable, but not emphasized. Exceptions are testable to the extent that you know about them from 1020.
We didn't cover chapter 12 in 1020 so can you please tell us what Exceptions are you talking about? We didn't cover Exceptions in 1030 as well so if you can suggest the chapters from the book that would be good.
Were you in last semester's class? We definitely did exceptions (Chapter 11). It was even on the final exam (I clearly remember one of the problems we had even).
@EVERYONE Guys I asked him on friday what he would have on exception handling. He told me "only the stuff you should know from 1020." The only thing we did on exception handling is the try and catch blocks as 6:11 said. This test should be mainly focused on inheritance I and inheritance II.
Is there going to be class on Monday...cause I somewhat remember that professor Eckford said something about having class still on that day but have the test later on at 5:30 PM
@Anon: That's why you only take in what other people say only as considerations. ;)
@Regarding the test: I still found the test to be relatively short... (i.e. only out of 20, each mistake of a half mark is 2.5%... rather costly...) Apart from that, the test is quite fair, no surprises, although a little tricky at sometime. Generally, <nerd>I'd say it's even enjoyable.</nerd>
The test was similar to what we did in class. This semester is better than the one I took last semester for 1030. That time we didn't get to see the entire program because part of the code was always in this jar file and his lectures were all in words

ReplyDeleteSorry for being out of context but, is there a Lab Scheduled for the week of March 14, i.e. on March 16th Wednesday?
ReplyDeleteOn the course calender it says, TBA.
Chp 9 from the book.

ReplyDeletePretty sure we did do exceptions. I was in professor Mas section and we did chapter 11 which was exception handling not chapter 12.
Prof Burton Ma didn't make us do Exception Handling
ReplyDeleteis the test going to be in the same room in which we had test 1?

In 1020 I remember we did exception handling in the form of try-catch blocks.
ReplyDelete@ 6:11
ReplyDeleteYes that is pretty much what we know of Exception Handling. But I think prof Eckford is gonna test us hard on this one.
@9:58 Why would you say that? It's not even a major part of the course.
ReplyDelete@10:41 This is what the prof has written

ReplyDelete'Exceptions' is on Chapter 9.
ReplyDeleteIs GUI testable for the final exam, or was it used as an example of inheritance and polymorphism?
ReplyDelete@3:31
ReplyDeleteWhy dont you leave that question for the exam forum. Worry about whats on your plate now my friend.
@2:27
Yes there will be a lecture to make up for the one that was missed due to the snow day.
Does anyone know when and where the test will take place?
ReplyDelete@ 4:33 PM
ReplyDeleteTest 2 to be held Mar 14 from 5:30Pm - 7:00Pm in CSE building, lecture hall A.
Thanks woody
ReplyDeleteCrazy Exam.
ReplyDelete@ 5:07 I second that
ReplyDeleteWhat was so crazy about it?
ReplyDeletelol at all the people freaking out about exceptions and then not one question regarding exceptions comes up on the test!
ReplyDelete@ 6:21PM
ReplyDeleteI think there was exception on the test. The questions with runtime errors are exceptions. I think.

ReplyDeleteThere's not much part marks for each question.
And tests aren't enjoyable.
